About the Event

tfl pybo medallion x1200Suicide is at epidemic levels for those living in small, high-altitude, resort towns across Colorado in part due to the lack of, or access to, mental health care facilities in these communities. In October of 2018 Kyle Uhl, at the age of 27, took his own life in Crested Butte which brought greater awareness and spurred fundraising to open The Center for Mental Health in Crested Butte which opened on June 6, 2019. In 7 short weeks, the center reached its caseload limit in part helping many who fall through the cracks of the healthcare system either by being underinsured or with no insurance at all.

The idea was born in early 2019 to develop an annual event designed to raise funds earmarked for those living in high-altitude towns who cannot afford services, to raise awareness and stimulate a dialog in the community about suicide and suicide prevention, and to address the stigma associated with mental health illness.

While we cannot bring back those who have left us, we as a community can work together to help those who are struggling around us. Please join us by making a donation to support these efforts!

The Fundraisers

2022 tfl pybo posterNow in our 4th year, our two fundraisers Trek for Life and Pedal Your Butte Off! coincide with other mental health awareness events occurring in Crested Butte in September — to remember those who are no longer with us, to raise awareness, and address the stigma associated with mental health illness, and to fight the high rate of suicide, suicide prevention. Every penny we raise is earmarked specifically for those who cannot afford mental health services.
